The truth about 'strange objects' on the surface of Mars

Amateur astronomers have discovered a strange structure protruding from the surface of Mars. It looks like a regular rock; but it is worth mentioning that the rock is perfectly rectangular and placed unnaturally upright.

The structure was first discovered several years ago in a photo taken by the HiRISE camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbital Ship (Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter). The HiRISE camera has a resolution of about 30cm for each pixel, allowing images of Mars surface to be obtained at a distance of 300km.

Vigorous debates have been going on for years until scientists have a recent official answer. According to Engineer Jonathon Hill, who handles photos taken in NASA's Mars missions at Arizona State University, it is simply a rectangular boulder.

Located below a cliff and near other rocks, it is most likely a fragment of that cliff, Hill said. Even if aliens are difficult to access such dangerous positions. Hill explained that the height of the rock in the photo was exaggerated by a low sun angle. When the Sun is near the horizon, the rock will create a long shadow.
