International Business Times reported yesterday that doctors found an abnormal sign when pregnant woman named Wu, 23, in Yichang City in Hubei Province, China, came to check-in at the 6th month. Negative shows that the fetus grows a tail, has poor liver development and no bladder.
Doctors confirmed the fetus with Mermaid Syndrome , also known as sirenomelia, a rare congenital deformity that causes the legs to be bunched together and shaped like a fish's tail.
According to experts, babies can only survive a few hours after birth. The mermaid syndrome appears only in one of 100,000 pregnancies.
