The US produces about one billion light-years of sunlight
US scientists use lasers to create the brightest light on Earth, one billion times brighter than the sun's surface.
Researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), USA, project a powerful laser diode named Diocles on electrons hovering in helium gas, the Independent reported yesterday. They get a billion times more light than the Sun, which can make a breakthrough for safe, high-sensitivity 3D X-rays.
The original purpose of the experiment was to study how the photons from scattered laser scattered. In this case, the number of dispersed photons is high, reaching up to 1,000 particles at the same time, producing unexpected results for scientists.

"When creating this imaginative light, we recognize the change in the nature of dispersion, which basically makes us see things , " said Professor Donald Umstadter at the Light Laboratory. Extinction of the UNL University, said.
When exceeding a certain threshold, the brightness of the laser changes the angle, shape and wavelength of the dispersion light. "In experiments, light changes the shape of an object. Light emits in different angles, with different colors, depending on the brightness," said Professor Umstadter.
Another effect when multiple photons are dispersed at the same time is the formation of X-rays with unique properties, according to research published in the journal Nature Photonics. The X-rays generated by the laser beam are very powerful electrons but exist for very short periods of time and are kept within the narrow band of energy. This type of X-rays can form the basis for highly sensitive 3D X-rays for tumor tracking or molecular mapping of nanomaterials.
Physicists may also use the X-rays as super-fast cameras to capture electron motion or chemical reactions. Another potential application is to detect threats at security checkpoints.
