The US stopped testing HIV vaccines

The US government has just halted clinical trials of a vaccine to prevent HIV virus after it found it could not prevent infection.

The clinical trial program for HIV vaccine called HVTN 505 started in 2009. This is the most recent program in a series of unsuccessful studies of vaccines to prevent HIV.

The National Institute of Infectious Diseases and Allergy (NIAID) said on April 25 that volunteers who participated in the trial came from 19 US cities, including gay or transgender people who had sex. sex with men.

1,250 people took the HVTN 505 vaccine while 1,244 others took placebo.

Analysis results on April 22 of the panel showed that 41 cases were infected in the vaccine population, compared with 30 cases in the placebo group.

NIAID said it will continue to monitor the objects to further analyze the results of the test.
