The way to create energy for cars

Picture 1 of The way to create energy for cars Cars are 'masters' who drink gas. In order to limit the fuel wastage of automobiles, Israeli engineers have devised ways to utilize the car's activity on the road to generate electricity back in the car.

And to prove that, the Haitian Institute of Technology in Haifa announced it would unveil the world's first "energy road" in January. Cars running on this 1,6 km asphalt road can generate over 640 KW of electricity - enough to run 12 cars.

The unmatched road system works the same way as an energy dance floor being used at a nightclub in London. When running on a road that generates energy, vehicles will create friction on thousands of piezoelectric crystals mounted on the road, thereby generating energy. The more crystal quantity, the greater the amount of electricity generated.

This electricity can be downloaded to the national grid or used for public lighting. Innowattech, in partnership with Technion, said it is developing a similar system for railways and mobile pavements in airports. If widespread throughout the world, the invention of Israel could help save significant energy for vehicles.
