Unexpected energy sources for the future
Energy sources on Earth are getting depleted and scientists are working on ways to create new sources of energy to replace.
1. Energy from volcanoes
Volcanoes produce wave energy and even researchers are considering using volcanic energy as an effective alternative energy source for oil, gas and coal in the future.
Currently two companies in Oregon state are planning to test energy mining technology at Newberry volcano near Oregon. However, experts expressed concern that this plan is quite dangerous and high risk.
2. Cold methane
Methane molecules stored at low temperatures can become the most abundant source of energy on Earth. Japan was the first country to store cold methane gas since March this year.
However, this type of energy is a fossil fuel and is transformed into a gas causing a greenhouse effect.
3. Wind power
Wind energy is increasingly widely used. Kites made from carbon fiber are attached to turbines to convert kinetic energy into electricity. The energy produced by these kites is equivalent to that of a fixed turbine but the material cost is much lower.
Unmanned vehicles and Google Glass will most likely be equipped with this technology when Google acquires Makani Energy in May.
4. Gene transformation of E. coli bacteria
This technology is not as terrible as its name suggests. British scientists have genetically engineered the bacteria to produce hydrogen carbon particles like petroleum. They believe that the microbial bank that produces the bioavailability can be used as fuel.
5. Energy from laser in space
In space, the sun will not be obscured by clouds. That means solar panels will capture this whole energy source without suffering from atmospheric obstruction.
This idea was proposed in the 70s of the 20th century and people interested in the universe said recently that NASA is considering this idea.
6. Bioenergy
Dall Bentzen, a Danish inventor, hybridized a hemp plant that, when burned, can produce 20-30% more energy.
However, critics argue that burning this plant will produce CO 2 while the supporters argue that planting trees will produce O 2 and can compensate for this disadvantage. Patriot Bioenergy is considering this option.
7. Energy from ocean waves
Waves are better sources of energy than wind. Scottish people think so and they set up the world's largest wave energy wave this year. The wave collides with the wind and this energy will be integrated into the grid, extremely simple and easy. It looks like this method will be popular in the future.
8. Energy from seaweed
For a long time, we still think marine algae only functions as a food. And now, you will know the new function of algae. Stanford University researchers have found a way to get electrons from algae cells. This approach may seem a bit complicated but if successful will open the door to the green energy research industry.
9. Energy from moist plastic
Polymers when rolled and wet produce energy to operate mechanical devices and generate electricity. Researchers at MIT created a small electric current by spraying water into a polymer placed in an electrically conductive material and floating on the water.
Currently, this technology is still fragmented but marked the first success in generating electricity in a completely new way.
10. Energy from pocket particle accelerator
Large Hadron Collider came up with the idea of miniature and pocketable particle accelerators. This small particle accelerator has been tested at Daresbury, UK and provides clean energy instead of fossil fuels.
However, is the people here happy to live next to a nuclear reactor?
12. Energy from capacitor
Capacitors will be an alternative to batteries and provide greater power. The capacitor will provide perfect support for existing battery-powered devices such as phones and electric cars. Capacitors are also the perfect solution because it is more stable than solar and wind.
