There are Tesla trams on the mainland, and there are Tesla of the Canals on the water

It is expected that the world's first electric car will be launched starting this summer to replace some 23,000 truckloads in the Netherlands.

Port-Liner has confirmed that it will soon launch a special self-propelled barge, which runs entirely on electric power this summer.

The Tesla of the Canals will support freight between Antwerp, Amsterdam and Rotterdam from next summer.

Tesla of the Canals has a 6-meter battery, enough to power the ship during its journey. The largest energy supplier in the Netherlands, Eneco has signed a contract to supply batteries for the barge.

Each Tesla of the Canals can carry 24 containers and a maximum load of 425 tons.

After undergoing trials and surveillance by the crew this summer, Tesla of the Canals will soon be put into service as the world's first self-propelled boat.

Each Tesla of the Canals can carry 24 containers and a maximum load of 425 tons. Manufacturers hope the ship will contribute to improving air quality in the Netherlands, while reducing fossil fuel consumption.

The first ship is scheduled to launch in August this year. The hull length is 52 meters and 6.7 meters wide. Each time the battery is fully charged, the vessel can operate up to 15 hours continuously.

The second vessel will be launched next year. Port-Liner expects to reach production capacity of about 500 units a year. The next version of the ship will be upgraded in size. It is estimated that each ship can reduce to 18,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.

Port-Liner's barge project has made a significant contribution to the European Union's € 7 million subsidy and member ports.

The technology of Tesla of the Canals can be easily applied on other diesel models, contributing to the "greening" of the transportation industry in the future.

Self-drive transport is booming and will thrive in 2018. Late last year, Tesla announced the Semi electric truck and many other companies are also developing systems to reduce air pollution, increase efficiency transport and safety.
