There is going to be a clean fuel made from light and fat

Producing hydrogen gas from sunlight and some fatty compounds saves costs and yields 74 times higher than current methods.

Clean Fuel

Perhaps in all kinds of alternative materials, nothing can be as clean as hydrogen . Burning this fuel during use only produces water by-products, not harmful to the environment. More specifically, this gas can be re-synthesized and not exhausted like gasoline.

However, the production of hydrogen fuel cells on a large scale is not easy because of the complicated technical requirements that come with expensive components.

Hydro is an excellent source of clean energy, but the challenge for researchers is how to create it both effectively and at affordable prices.

Until recently, a group of Argonne National Laboratory researchers in Illinois, along with colleagues from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Russia, discovered a method of producing hydrogen. special. Experts conduct synthesis of hydrogen fuel from water by combining sunlight and some light-sensitive fat compounds.

Production capacity is 74 times higher

Now people can produce hydrogen fuel efficiently at a lower cost. Accordingly, experts can synthesize hydrogen gas from water with solar energy using special optical catalytic compounds created by titanium dioxide.

The team of US and Russian researchers inserted a light-sensitive protein into the nanoparticles - made up of circular segments of the cell membrane consisting of two layers of fat in order to mimic a natural cell membrane called bacteriorhodopsin.

To create optical catalytic compounds, they dissolved nanoparticles into the water along with titanium dioxide. Experts also added platinum to the mix to make the reaction more effective.

With this new catalyst, the yield of hydrogen gas from the above method is 74 times higher than previous methods.

"Although there is expertise in physiological and medical issues, but thanks to recent research with American colleagues, we think that by using biological and technical knowledge As a source of information from many experts, nano samples could be used to produce hydrogen fuel , 'said Vladimir Chupin, MIPT research specialist, emphasizing the level of efficiency when research institutes collaborate with together.

The project was published in ACS Nano magazine.
