Things you don't know about Bifidus bacteria

Bifidus or Bifidobacterium is a genus of Gram-positive, non-mobile, often anaerobic branching bacteria. They are present everywhere, endosymbiotic in the gastrointestinal tract, vagina and in the mouth (B. dentium) of mammals and other animals.

Bifidus bacteria are one of the major limbs of bacteria that make up the colon flora in mammals. Some bifidus bacteria are used as probiotics.

Before the 1960s, Bifidobacterium species were collectively referred to as "Lactobacillus bifidus".

The human body contains many strains of microorganisms in the amount of about one hundred trillion, 10 times larger than the total number of cells, including beneficial bacteria (often called Probiotics) like Bifidus . Bifidus helps digestion and absorption of nutrients, boosts the immune system, eliminates bacteria that are not beneficial or harmful to the body.

Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus are the 2 most common Probiotics today. These are live bacilli, with irregular or Y-shaped rod structure. They are also strong, anaerobic bacteria, able to survive in high acid environment, live in the digestive tract (host weak in the large intestine). These beneficial bacteria produce lactic acid and acetic acid from lactose. Each animal has a different form of Bifidobacterium, called Bifidobacterium bifidum, often present in the gut of breastfed babies.

Bifidus creates an acidic environment in the intestine that helps prevent the growth of bacteria that are not beneficial or cause disease by most harmful bacteria that prefer to live in environments with low acidity or alkaline environments. The metabolic activity of Bifidus beneficial bacteria increases the occurrence of harmful bacteria, provides nutrients and energy, prevents body fluids.

Besides, Bifidus beneficial bacteria also help reduce the risk, severity of diarrhea, especially acute diarrhea and diarrhea caused by antibiotic use.

The addition of Bifidus or the use of products with Bifidus helps balance the intestinal flora, boosts the immune system, prevents diarrhea, and reduces the risk of allergies.
