Through the project 'Biogas program for Vietnam's livestock sector' and the project 'Improving agricultural product quality and safety and biogas development program' has been implemented over the past time, the whole province has building nearly 7,000 biogas plants, contributing to effectively treating livestock waste, creating clean energy sources for daily life or production.

According to the survey, the above model saves 2.2 million VND of fuel / household and saves from 300,000 to 400,000 VND per month for households running generators. Livestock waste processed from biogas technology also creates a large amount of good organic fertilizer for fertilizing crops and improving land. In particular, the model of biosecurity application and 'biological padding' helps each household to save production costs from 250,000 to 300,000 VND / pig after the 3-month breeding cycle. This model is being piloted in dozens of pig households in the province to replicate.

In order to bring the technology transfer in depth, it helps to raise the production and husbandry skills and skills in general for farmers, contributing to bringing the pig breeding industry to overcome difficulties for sustainable development, this year. , Tien Giang Provincial Agricultural Extension Center organized 1,000 training sessions and seminars attracting about 30,000 participating farmers; which focuses on production models, biosafety breeding, biological padding application, combining biogas digester to solve environment, cultivation and animal husbandry towards VietGAP .

Thanks to the technical advances applied in the breeding process, while reducing costs and increasing profits, although the market has sometimes been unstable, the pig raising situation in Tien Giang has still achieved good growth. The total number of pigs in the province is now over 584,000, up 1.5% over the same period last year and nearly doubled compared to 20 years ago.

The price of live hog is recovering and stands at a high level, from VND 5 million to VND 5.3 million / quintal. At this price, each pound of live hog raisers earns between 1.1 and 1.5 million VND. Livestock households with biosecurity thresholds or using 'biological padding' profit from 1.5 million VND / kg of live weight pigs. So farmers are very excited, promising that the province's pig industry continues to develop strongly in the coming time.
