T-shirt turns ... air into the guitar
Australian scientists have announced that they have successfully developed a high-tech t-shirt that can make the "air guitar" playable.
With embedded motion sensors inside the sleeve, this T-shirt can record all the vibrations of the arm and transmit them (wirelessly) to the computer.
The computer software will translate the vibrations into the guitar, says engineer Richard Helmer, head of research at the Australian Organization for Science and Industry.
Source: Reuters "The computer will recognize a hand-selected task notes, and strum the other hand," he said. And this "instrumental" shirt is suitable for both left and right handers. According to Helmer, the sound created will sound like an MP3 digital music format.
" It's very simple to use, and virtual instruments let you create real-time sound even when the player is not a computer and music expert ."
This interesting shirt is the collaboration of many experts in the fields of computing, chemistry, electronics, composers and textiles. Helmer said the future sensor ICs could be used to create a copy of the user in the virtual world. "Then , they can get feedback on how to play and raise their fingers ."
