Prolonged hot sunshine, the need to use robe to outdoor workers suddenly increased. People in Yen Lac hamlet, Quang Loc commune (Can Loc, Ha Tinh) had to rush to produce the countryside-style sun protection tools.
Unique village to make sunscreen
From the beginning of May until now, Central Vietnam has been continuously hot and hot over 37 degrees Celsius, many days up to 40 degrees C. To limit the sun rays, Ha Tinh people often wear shirts to work.
In Ha Tinh, there is a village specializing in making shirt, Yen Lac, Quang Loc commune (Can Loc, Ha Tinh).Currently in the village, there are about 100 households producing t-shirts and only doing it once a year, starting the end of the second lunar month until mid-April.Coat made from conical leaves and rattan rope.Finding leaves is quite hard, people in Yen Lac village have to go to the mountains of Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh) about 50 km away from the house.
Ms. Than Thi Cuc (55 years old) said that the leaves were dried by fire in the mountains, then brought to dry one day, then exposed to one night's dewy plastic and sunning a day to be used. The leaves are arranged on the table in order, to facilitate folding, they must use a ruler to overlap.Large, beautiful canopy leaves are attached to the outside as a background.
When sewing a shirt, there should be a table (counter for leaves to knit), followed by 6 wooden braces (called rulers) of 3 cm wide, 1.5 m long to keep them clean.
The needle is about 25 cm long and is used to thread the rattan thread into sewing threads on the shirt.A shirt usually has 5 seams.
According to Mr. Than Van Son (56 years old, Mrs. Cuc's husband), it is necessary to have rattan rope to make the shirt. The string when exploited will be split, soaked in water for about 2 hours to soften and easy to sew.
Mr. Son and his wife often divide each person into one stage. She plucked the leaves together, finished the basic plate.Mr. Son takes care of sewing threads and making neckline.
After more than an hour, Mr. Son and his wife completed a shirt. On average, each day he and his wife make about 5-6 pieces.
'My shirt sells at a low price, each cost 40-50 thousand dong.If any season hit, it can collect about 5-6 million VND.In the past, villagers worked all year round, but now they only work every season. This is the tradition of his father, so every year we do, the purpose is to preserve the identity of the country, 'Cuc said.
