Ultrasound dryers help clothes dry up to 2 times faster

Clothes dryers are an essential tool for households. However, traditional clothes dryers often use heating and drying methods - this is a very expensive method that does not bring high efficiency.

The ultrasonic dryer is a big step forward in the science industry. Instead of heating and drying, this machine uses high-frequency vibrations to remove water and moisture from clothing. The operation of this machine helps clothes dry faster, more convenient, more cost-effective than traditional clothes dryers, and of course better for fabric fibers as well.

According to CNN, Ayyoub Momen - the head of the study, the complete model of the machine is expected to be completed in August, and will start entering the consumer market through partners. like General Electric. The men expect that this machine will only cost about 500 USD (about 11 million VND) and will reduce the huge amount of 9 billion USD per year that Americans spend to dry their clothes.

The ultrasonic dryer is a big step forward in the science industry.

Instead of using traditional heating methods, Momen and his team used electrical devices called piezoelectric transducers to produce sounds so high that animals couldn't hear them either. That sound will cause certain vibrations to cause the wet fabrics to shake vigorously and all wet water particles and moisture will be removed from the fabric even in cold air. Those particles will then turn into a mist-like form and be collected into a small tank.

No heat, less lint

Ultrasonic dryers use three to five times more energy efficiently than conventional dryers that are being consumed in the market. It can dry an entire washing machine block in just 20 to 30 minutes, while the usual time is 40 to 60 minutes. Not using heat also makes your clothes more protected, and of course there is no fiber fiber phenomenon due to strong heat impact.

However, what makes the most exciting moment is the comprehensive impact of this invention on the country's energy use. According to government statistics, about 85% of households currently own at least one clothes dryer, and their electricity usage accounts for 4% of the total electricity used by families. .

Momen developed the idea of an ultrasonic dryer upon receiving the Energy Department's dryer challenge in 2014. He started his creative model on the existing ultrasonic moisture and started testing. Dry the test on a few small pieces of fabric. And in the next few weeks, he will complete a complete machine that can dry clothes full of a washing machine.

Researchers tested a model of ultrasound-based dryers.

That is the milestone marking the beginning of the penetration of ultrasonic dryers, but Momen said the process will take about five years. He will work with General Electric to reduce costs, refine the design and build the production line for this ultrasonic dryer.

"We estimate that it will cost about $ 500 to $ 1000 when it reaches consumers, which is equivalent to the price of today's conventional dryer," Momen said. He also stressed that General Electric (GE) will offer the final price, but "from the beginning we already know, they must be brought to the market to make a difference," he said.

That difference is extremely important for Momen-who thinks that energy is "one of the most important areas of research in this modern era". He said: "The US is still dependent on foreign energy. We have to change and we are starting with this ultrasonic dryer."
