Underground treasure of London

A series of ancient Roman jewels were unearthed beneath a department store in London, England, dating back nearly 2,000 years.

The treasure contains many jewels buried beneath the Williams & Griffin department store in the town center of Colchester. According to Live Science, excavated jewelry includes gold rings, silver bracelets, silver necklaces, a small bag of coins, large silver rings, small jewelry boxes with two gold rings and two gold earring set.

Archaeologists said they were very surprised when they first discovered precious metals in this area."The finding is very interesting to us. The jewelry found to be of great significance in terms of archeology and historical value , " the archaeological group stressed.

During this period of history, the Iceni queen Boudica led the British indigenous against the occupying forces of ancient Romans. The war ended when the Roman army won. Under the assumption, the owner or slave has buried jewelry underneath the house to keep it safe.

Researchers said that many other artifacts could also be discovered in the excavation area. Here, they found some fragments of human bones mixed with debris.
