Using viruses that cause AIDS ... fight AIDS

Ancient people have the phrase " get toxic poison ". The experience of the ancients has been used by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (USA) in an experiment to find ways to treat HIV / AIDS century diseases.

In particular, the team removed immune cells called viral HIV-infected CD4 from the patient's body, then transplanted the gene to transform the gene into these CD4 cells, then returned them to the patient. Through monitoring, the researchers found that the " genetically modified " virus killed the " genuine " virus and restored the immune system of AIDS patients.

The experiment was conducted in only 5 patients with HIV / AIDS, but the positive results brought hope to find a treatment for AIDS with new gene therapy to kill this virus.

According to Dr. Carl June, the virus is created by gene therapy that is as effective as a vaccine, which helps the immune system of most HIV / AIDS-infected patients work better. Researchers are focusing on monitoring the mechanism of this vaccine virus.

In the past, very few AIDS patients were treated with gene therapy, but some of them later developed leukemia, as a " side effect ". A volunteer patient treated with this method died in 1999. Dr. June's team is therefore trying to find a new treatment, first to paralyze the HIV virus.

There are nearly 40 million people in the world living with HIV / AIDS and 25 million people have died from the disease of the century. Up to now, only drugs have helped control and limit the transmission of HIV infection, but there is no cure or vaccine.
