Video: A close-up shot of a pistol's assassin

Pistol prawns (also known by other names as Knocked Shrimp) have the scientific name Alpheidae. They are not too big in size - about 3 - 5cm long.

Looks Alpheidae is no different from normal shrimp species, except for a very prominent feature - that is "big baby".

This shrimp has a big baby.

The bigger the baby, the smaller the number of times and not as sharp as the pliers in the head as usual. Instead, the head is rather obtuse and divided into two parts: the lower half is fixed, the upper half can be moved, forming a right angle to the lower half.

Looking at the structure has a "fragile" part but the same structure has helped this shrimp form a very special weapon: a deadly sound gun.

The predatory pistol shrimp that uses it creates a bubble bullet that can kill the enemy.

They create an explosive balloon with pressure up to 80kPa at a distance of 4cm from the larger one. When the ball leaves, it goes at a speed of 97km / h and produces explosions of up to 218 dexibels.

The speed at which pistol prawns make such a grip is only 1/100 second. And yet, the air bubbles when broken also give temperatures up to 4,700 degrees Celsius - a weapon too horrible.
