The scene of strange objects appeared in the sky of Jinan City in Shandong Province, China, on August 13 shared widely on social network Weibo, according to Long Room. The dark object glowed light yellow, hovering above the roof of high-rise buildings before fading and mixing into the night.

Some ideas associate objects with flying mats or gates to heaven. According to local newspapers, the rectangle may be a floodlight image on the clouds, but this conclusion does not seem convincing to many residents.
