Vietnam successfully produces food from seaweed

Dr. Dong Thi Anh Dao has successfully produced 6 types of food (cakes, jams, spices .) from seaweed trees that are being grown in Ninh Thuan waters.

Research results of Dr. Anh Dao (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology) showed that the raw seaweed (Kappaphycus Alvarezii) after being soaked, deodorized, color and extracted carrageenan at temperatures up to 90 0 C for processing turn into the above food.

Director of Ninh Thuan Department of Science and Technology Tran Phong said that the department will transfer technology to process food from seaweed so that farmers in the province can mass produce.

Ninh Thuan has about 500 hectares of seaweed growing area, on the beaches of Ca Na, Phuoc Dinh, Dam Nai .
