Volvo develops cars without accidents

Swedish car company Volvo is developing a vehicle that automatically avoids collisions and is expected to be available to the general public within the next eight years.

This car has been programmed with advanced sensor technology that makes it possible to avoid all obstructions. Volvo plans to introduce the new model to the market by 2020 but from 2014 this safety technology will be applied.

Volvo's chief executive, Anders Eugensson, said the company's target is that by 2020 no Volvo owner will have an accident.

This is part of the competition to produce self-driving cars of the leading car manufacturers such as Volvo, Ford Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Vauxhall and even Google. The idea comes from the Will Smith car driven in the fantasy movie 'I, Robot.'

Volvo is proud of its 85 years of operation as well as its reputation as the world's leading safety car manufacturer and a leader in the development of three-point seat belts. The company expects the launch of a self-driving car at 50km / h, which is suitable for narrow-gauge urban roads, which will completely eliminate high-speed car accidents by 2020.

Skeptics argue that this is not feasible and that there are now many technologies that have the same functions as satellite positioning, self-parking systems, airbags, and so on. All these technologies have appeared in current models. Meanwhile, experts say that these automobiles are safer because it limits the driver's error.
