What is the most advanced universe model just released?

This model is the most advanced today, allowing us to explore more magnetic field questions than any previous cosmological simulation.

Researched by lead researcher Volker Springel at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Research, astronomers from the Max Planck Institute of Astronomy (MPIA, Heidelberg) and Astrophysics (MPA, Garching), Harvard University , Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has developed and programmed a new space simulation model, called IllustrisTNG .

When we observe galaxies with a telescope, we can only measure a certain number. With simulation, we can track all the properties of all these galaxies.

And it's not just what the galaxy looks like, but its history. Mapping how galaxies evolve in simulations shows how one of us might be like when Earth formed and how our galaxy could change in the future.

Mark Vogelsberger, assistant professor of physics at MIT and MIT Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research of MIT, has been working to develop, test and analyze new IllustrisTNG simulations . Together with researchers at Dr. Federico Marinacci and Paul Torrey, Vogelsberger used IllustrisTNG to study the signs that can be observed from large-scale magnetic fields spreading throughout the universe.

"The high resolution of Illustrator combined with its sophisticated galaxy formation model allows us to explore more magnetic field questions than any previous cosmological simulation" , Vogelsberger , one of the authors of three articles was published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
