Why are passengers being sucked out in a plane crash carrying 149 people?
The incident happened on Southwest Airlines' flight, from Dallas to New York, USA. But why did this happen?
According to the Daily Star, Boeing 737 aircraft carried 149 passengers in trouble after leaving La Guardia airport in New York, USA.
Aircraft engines explode in the sky.
The engine exploded causing the debris to crash into the plane glass in row 17, causing a break.
The female passenger sitting near the window, Jennifer Riordan was sucked into the window, nearly 10,000 meters high.
Witnesses said the passengers tried to hold the woman tight, helping her not to be swept out.Jennifer Riordan was determined to be the only person killed on the plane.
According to the Daily Star, it is quite rare for passengers to be sucked from airplanes, but have happened in the past.
Can passengers be sucked off the plane?
Thomas Anthony, director of aviation safety and security programs at the University of Southern California, said: 'As the aircraft rises, the air pressure decreases. The amount of air inside is kept private so that passengers can breathe normally '.
For some reason the plane appears a hole, such as being bombed, the air inside will be sucked out.
The broken glass door smoked passengers from the plane.
Jonathan Franklin, a commercial airplane pilot, said: 'It is true that the outside air pressure is lower than inside the aircraft, when the aircraft operates at standard altitudes.'
'But the force of suction is not as strong as a vacuum cleaner to roll it all out in an instant.'
But a big hole in the plane can create tragedy. Because it forms a gust of wind that draws things out, including humans.
Geoffrey Landis, NASA physicist, said on NBC that it takes 100 seconds to balance air pressure through a 30cm hole on a Boeing 747.
The bigger the hole, the longer the time to balance the pressure and the stronger the attraction.
Seat belts can keep passengers from being sucked off the plane. But there have been cases where passengers have been taken away from the plane with the seats.
Has this happened before?
The 2016 air bombing formed a large hole that sucked a person out.
This is not the first time the hole has caused passengers to be sucked from the plane. The same incident happened in 1973, when a passenger sat near the window being swept out. The person sitting next to luck is unharmed.
British Airways' cockpit doors were knocked out in 1990, causing the pilot to get half-wrapped out. This pilot got into the dashboard so he survived.
In 1989, the United Airlines Boeing 747 failed to close the cargo compartment door, 9 passengers were swept out while still fastening.
Most recently, in 2016, a bombing tore apart the fuselage of Daallo Airlines in Somalia. The explosion caused a passenger to be sucked out through the hole of the plane and fell to the ground from a height of more than 3,000 meters.
