Why do we often close our eyes when we kiss?

According to the previous concept, people close their eyes when kissing because their sight cannot focus on one thing that is too close to the face of the person opposite.

Closing your eyes when kissing is completely instinctive.

However, psychologists at Royal Holloway University, UK, rejected this hypothesis in a study published in early March in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Awareness and Action.

According to the Telegraph, the team concludes the implementation of complex visual tasks reduces the ability of human sensory perception. This is also the reason a person does not notice the phone vibrating when searching for a friend's face in the crowd and leading to the introduction of alarm systems aimed at the driver or the pilot.

Tactile-based alerts are put into modern cars to remind drivers when they do not pay attention because of concern for visual tasks. According to research results, to focus on feeling tactile , people can instinctively close their eyes . The same is true for touch-related situations such as Braille, dance or relationship.

The researchers asked volunteers to find letters at an easy and difficult level, and to respond to the occurrence or disappearance of short vibrations transmitted to the left or right hand. They found that sensitivity to tactile stimulation decreased when volunteers made the search task harder.

" We already know the difficulty of a visual task can reduce attention to visual and hearing stimulation. Our research expands to touch. This is especially important when we are on. more and more tactile information is used in warning systems , "said Dr. Sandra Murphy, research author.

" For example, some cars give tactile warnings when starting to change lanes. Our research shows that drivers are less likely to pay attention to these warnings while focusing on visual tasks. It's as hard as finding a path between a busy intersection , 'Murphy said.
