Women are more versatile than men

A study proves that men are worse off than women when they have to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Many people believe men are unable to do two or more things at the same time. However, no one has found evidence to confirm that hypothesis.

Telegraph said Professor Keith Laws, a psychologist from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK, and his colleagues decided to study to see if the hypothesis was true or false.

Laws recruited 50 male students and 50 female students in the school to perform the test. Students must perform three tasks within 8 minutes - solve some problems, locate some restaurants on the map, find a key in a virtual field. Among them, finding keys requires strategic thinking and planning ability.

While the volunteers made the request, their cell phone bells rang. As a rule volunteers can receive or reject calls. The call recipients will listen to a basic knowledge test while still doing the other things.

The results showed that the group of female students performed well in all 4 tasks. On the contrary, the male group is inferior in finding the key if they receive the call.

'People always think that men are able to imagine space better than women, so they should be better than women in finding keys and restaurants on the map,' said Laws.

But the experiment showed that when doing many things at the same time, it seems that men's ability to imagine space does not reach the maximum level.
