World's first flying taxi in Dubai
Dubai has tested the world's first flying taxi for the purpose of developing a new type of public transport service.
The world's first flying taxi has just been tested at the Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai. The flight was attended by Prince Rashid Al Maktoum and several other officials.
This vehicle (still not officially available) will be used for taxi service in the city.A special feature is that it is fully automated, without any driver or manual intervention during operation. This raises many concerns about safety during flight.
However, according to Michael Rudolph, head of the Regulation and Safety Department of the Dubai Civil Aviation Administration, these flying taxis are always monitored by the new DCAA air monitoring device, ensuring safety for the trip. Fly at all times on city airspace.
Besides, this unmanned aircraft is also equipped with a lot of features such as an advanced security system and safety standards. All important parts are left over for redundancy. It is also equipped with emergency umbrella, 9 independent battery systems, fast charger and support system. The test flight took only 2 hours to fully charge the battery.
Using clean and low-noise power sources, flying taxis are considered environmentally friendly.
Flight taxis have a total height of about 2m, a diameter of 7m of propellers. It has 2 seats and is fully automatic.Flight time is 30 minutes with a stable speed of 50km / h.The fastest speed is 100km / h.
The project of a flying taxi is proposed at the World Government Summit in Dubai.Volocopter, a German automaker, completed it in 7 months.
Users can book tickets and receive information on time and routes via a mobile application.Currently Dubai Road and Traffic Management Department is working with related parties to prepare the infrastructure for the introduction of taxi in the next 5 years.
