Create fast skin from stem cells, save burn patients

French scientists have found a way to quickly create human skin from stem cells, opening up the possibility of saving lives of burn victims who are prone to dangerous infections while waiting for skin transplants.

The scientists created a breakthrough when using stem cells to develop human skin patches on the back of mice.

Stem cells are the type of cells that can develop into any type of human cell.

The transplanted skin is now created by cultivating patients' own cells, at least 3 weeks. This time is too long to be dangerous for patients with severe burns.

The new method of using stem cells may allow doctors to almost immediately have 1 2 2 dermis for transplants as soon as they receive a burn patient.

French scientists hope this breakthrough invention will soon become an effective tool applied globally to save burn patients.
