Discover the exciting new planet discovered

A group of international astronomers discovered that a new one could have the same size and mass as Jupiter, but much hotter than the largest solar system planet, this discovery is published in arXiv.org.

Astronomers have identified transit signals in the star's light curve WASP-174 from spectral data obtained by the WASP-South telescope at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) in South Africa. .

The radius of planet WASP-174b is difficult to measure. They assume that the value of this parameter is between 0.7 and 1.7 times the radius of Jupiter.

Furthermore, the researchers added that the mass of WASP-174b is also uncertain, because the parent star is hot (6,400 K, equivalent to 6126,850 ℃) and spins quickly (shooting time is less than 4.4 days), reduces the accuracy of radial velocity measurements. They could only calculate the mass of this planet no more than 1.3 times the mass of Jupiter.

The study showed that WASP-174b circled the star star every 4.23 days at about 0.0555 AU. The planet's equilibrium temperature is estimated at 1,470 K, equivalent to 1196,850 ℃.

It is known that its star is a star with a life of 1.65 billion years of the F6V spectrum, weighing about 30% and bigger than the sun. It has a V band size of 11.9.
