Shrimps know how to shoot, like ... Songoku

This shrimp is probably the only creature in the world who knows how to use "interior" to hunt.

Each animal has a different way of hunting. Lions use fangs and claws, spiders love giant silk threads, snakes use venom to defeat and swallow prey .

However, it can be affirmed that no species has a unique method like the following shrimp: using "internal" to destroy the enemy. That is the pistol shrimp .

Identify pistol shrimp species

Pistol prawns (also known by other names as Knocked Shrimp) have the scientific name Alpheidae . They are not too big in size - about 3 - 5cm long.

Looks Alpheidae is no different from normal shrimp species, except for a very prominent feature - that is " big baby".

The bigger the baby, the smaller the number of times and not as sharp as the pliers in the head as usual. Instead, the head is rather obtuse and divided into two parts: the lower half is fixed, the upper half can be moved, forming a right angle to the lower half.

Looking at the structure has a "fragile" part but the same structure has helped this shrimp form a very special weapon: a deadly sound gun.

Discover the gun sound of harm to pistol shrimp

The mechanism of this sound gun relies on the large " nest " of pistol prawns. As stated, the larger of the shrimp is composed of two parts, one of which can move.

As the muscle relaxes, the more moving parts move back to the old position at a very fast speed, banging hard on the fixed part and creating a wave of powerful water bubbles.

This wave is capable of lowering "small fish ponds", stunning big fish and even breaking small glass jars.

This is a great weapon that he gave to pistol shrimp. With a powerful wave of water balloons, pistol shrimp can use their weapons to hunt or defend themselves.

According to estimates, when the two sides of the larger one hit each other, it can produce air bubbles with pressures up to 80 kPa (kilopascals - units of pressure) at a distance of 4 cm above.

The generated water bubbles can travel at 97 km / h and release a sound of up to 218 decibels depending on the size of the vehicle.

The speed at which pistol prawns make such a grip is only 1/100 second. And yet, the air bubbles when broken also give temperatures up to 4,700 degrees Celsius - a weapon too horrible.

Pistol shrimp also uses their own gear to communicate. The way pistol shrimp talk to each other is similar to dolphins or whales when they use sound waves .

This sound wave could even interfere with undersea radar. Recognizing this feature, in the period 1944-1945 US troops used pistol shrimp as a tool to "harass" the Japanese navy.

Another interesting feature of pistol shrimp is that if they lose a larger unit, the smaller one will automatically grow bigger and become a new gun for shrimp.
