33-year-old doctor named alone in the leading physics magazine

Dr. Do Quoc Tuan is the only author named in the study of aerospace physics published in the world's leading prestigious magazine.

The work of "Higher dimensional nonlinear massive gravity" (theory of multidimensional gravitational gravitational mass) by Dr. Do Quoc Tuan , Department of Physics (University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University) is one of two nominations for the young Ta Quang Buu in 2018. The prize is awarded on May 18.

In today's popular elementary particle theory, gravitons (particles of gravitational interaction) are thought to have zero mass. But in the theory of nonlinear massive gravity, graviton particles are assumed to have different masses.

Therefore, if graviton particles are actually proved to have mass, it will be a revolution in particle physics. Not only that, it can answer many of the problems people seek for a long time in cosmology as to the nature of dark energy (relative to the cosmological constant). In cosmology, dark energy is thought to be responsible for the acceleration of the universe's acceleration.

This fact has prompted Dr. Tuan to carry out the project. The results of the study have shown the nature of the cosmological constant, which relates to the acceleration of the universe's acceleration that can be explained by the theory of mass nonlinear gravity in spacetime not only in four dimensions. but many dimensions.

The work was done almost two years from 2014 to early 2016 with the idea of being created when he was a PhD student at the Institute of Physics, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan.

The study was published in Physical Review D 2016 - one of the leading prestigious journals in theoretical physics, part of the American Physical Society magazine system. Dr. Tuan is the main and unique Vietnamese of the article.

While physical articles are usually 6-10 pages long, the publication time takes 4 to 6 months or even a year, Dr. Tuan's article is 21 pages thick and published in just two months because it is not What to fix about the content.

Love to confront new things

In September 2008, Dr. Tuan came to Taiwan and chose a tutor with a research direction that he pursued in college. However, when he came to Taiwan, he realized that this professor had turned to another research direction, which is cosmology. As a person who likes to face challenges, Dr. Tuan accepts to approach this completely new field.

He began searching for materials and articles related to the direction of the instructor's research to learn computational techniques and to build his own model for research."I always think the challenge is more difficult, the higher the glory , " he said.

Sometimes discouraged because the research has not worked, but the love of science and perseverance helped him to overcome. From the time he got the idea up until he finished the article, he had to fix it many times, sometimes he could accept it up to 40 times.

Recalling that time, the young scientist said almost all the time of the day he was in the research room. He usually works from 12:00 to 4-5:00 the next day to rest in the dorm. Young doctor conceived, if not wholeheartedly, efforts to determination with research, it is difficult to have good results. In basic research, not just sitting 1-2 hours can think of ideas, sometimes all day after day.

Want students to have many international publications

Although the research conditions in Taiwan were better, in 2015, Dr. Tuan returned to Vietnam and asked to teach in Physics Informatics, Department of Physics, University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University. - where he used to work.

"It is necessary to do something useful for Vietnamese science. I do research alone may have some more announcements, but that is not as important as training the future generation of research in Vietnam, because so the number of Vietnamese publications will increase exponentially, " he explained.

Visualizing the difficulty of returning to the country, especially the study of cosmology in Vietnam is still new, he still accepts confrontation, as long as it contributes to promoting the country's water science.

Acknowledging that rice money makes him worried and pressured when he returns to Vietnam, but for him love science is much bigger."It's hard to explain that love, sometimes just looking at an experiment or reading a famous invention story that has loved science, and when I'm in love, I'm willing to trade , " said Dr. Tuan shared.

He wants the State to pay more attention to young scientists who have just come back to the country because the first phase with them is really difficult.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, a colleague of Dr. Do Quoc Tuan, acknowledged that in conditions in Vietnam, not everyone has the same love and passion for science as Tuan. He works professionally, perfectionist and always requires himself in research.

"Tuan is a rare scientist in Vietnam who goes straight to study the cosmological model. Perhaps he is the first person to announce his name alone, completely by internal forces without relying on internationalization," Mr. Cuong said.
