Gordon Holmes, a 64-year-old British programmer, discovered a self-portrait image carved on an ancient rock in the wild Baidon field in Yorkshire, Sun reported on January 17.

"This Stone Age selfie image consists of a long piece like a stick. I guess it is the painter who is sitting or standing in the middle of nature or around the fire with a circle of heads symbolizing the constellation The picture is as if the painter carved his own selfie, " Holmes said.

Although not as old as the hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt, the painting is a remarkable landmark for British history."I know there are older versions of selfie like ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, but the stone selfie at the Baildon moorland may be the earliest example in Britain , " Holmes said.

Holmes believed that the wild fields kept many symbols and sketches, works of ancient British residents. He spent his life studying the ancient etchings that were subjected to time abrasion.
