5 beautiful new species of sea cucumbers found in the Pacific Ocean
Biologists have discovered a special group of nudibranchs on the sea floor of the northeastern Pacific Ocean.
Special nudibranchs are named nudibranchs, which are quite gaudy colors.
Nudibranchs live in most oceans in the world.
These bizarre creatures have psychedelic patterns scattered across their bodies.
Sea cucumbers live in most of the world, from the deepest depths to more shallow waters but they are still not well understood and very little researched on them.
Until recently, in fact, we only knew about three species living in deep water in the Northeast Pacific.
But with the new discovery by marine biologists in California and Scripps Institution of Oceanography, nearly double the number of sea cucumber species found offshore.
Scientists have described five new species of sea cucumbers living deep in the deep sea off the coast of California and Mexico, which are strangely beautiful.
