5 strange animals with a nose

Unicornfish fish, Mandrill baboons, goblin sharks . are animals that possess a weird 1-0-2 nose in the world.

1. Unicornfish fish

A tropical fish found in India - Pacific, Unicornfish is known for its unique and funny nose.

On the sides of the fish tail there are two small spikes, when attacked by the enemy, the Spotted Unicornfish will use spikes to defend themselves, causing an unpleasant wound to the enemy.

2. Mandrill baboons

The baboon of Mandrill (or Mandrillus sphinx) is a mammal in the Cercopithecidae family. Baboons are about 80cm tall and the average weight of females is 11.5kg, and males are 25kg.

They live in tropical forests or grasslands of southern Cameroon and Congo in western Central Africa. In addition to the impressive nose, this animal is probably the primate with the most colorful nose in the world.

With the red nose, adorned around are white markings that make the monkey's "smell" part stand out. The nose color of female monkeys is usually lighter and the size is only half of that of male monkeys. 3. Elephant shrew

Distributed mainly in southern Africa, this elephant shrew has a size of 10 - 30cm, weighs 50 - 500gr, elongated muzzle, rather long legs. Their favorite food is insects such as spiders, centipedes, multi-legged animals, earthworms.

Elephant shrews use their noses to find prey and use their tongues to bring food into their mouths, like anteater. They move quite quickly and are very cautious. When they detect a threat, they will disguise themselves by hiding quickly into the bush.

4. Bat nose sword

The bat-nosed bat has the scientific name Lonchorhina aurita, which is a mammal in the leaf-billed family. This animal often lives in large groups with a dense number of individuals, sometimes up to 500 in caves in lowlands in tropical forests in South America.

This bat's nose is extremely special, they are like a vertical blade. The body length of the sword bat ranges from 53-67mm and the skull head is no longer than 22.7mm. Although it has a rather bizarre shape, because of eating insects, they are very useful for farmers.

5. Goblin sharks

Goblin sharks are also called Goblin sharks. They are a deep-sea shark, ugly and prominent, with a long beak-like nose.

Adult Goblin sharks usually have a length of over 3m and weigh more than 200kg. The head with a long nose is responsible for detecting prey in dark places thanks to the electric sensors.

Full body Goblin sharks are pink and the jaws are able to stretch with many sharp teeth, suitable for grinding food. This is considered one of the characteristics that distinguish this shark from many other species.
