65 Oracle product security errors have been fixed
Yesterday (July 18), Oracle fixed a total of 65 security flaws in a range of its products. This is the quarterly Oracle security update.
Darius Wiles - Oracle's Security Manager - said that of the 65 security bugs fixed this time, there are some notable errors. Especially, there are 27 errors that can be exploited by hackers remotely. Oracle recommends that users should quickly install patch updates.
" We have to quickly fix the above security bugs because of urgent requirements. Most of these patches are intended to fix the most dangerous security bugs. We recommend that users install it. put the patch as soon as possible , "Wiles said in a recent interview.
Of the 65 security bugs fixed this time, Oracle database software products accounted for 23 errors. The remaining errors belong to Collaboration Suite (1 error), Application Server (10 errors), E-Business application suite (20 errors), Enterprise Manager (4 errors), PeopeSoft enterprise portal software (2 errors) and JD Edwards software (1 error).
In addition, Critical Patch Update this time also helps solve 4 other security errors in client Oracle database application software. This is the second time this year that Oracle has released patch updates that run on personal computer systems. The first time Oracle did this was in a security update released in January 2005.
" Customers may consider installing patches for software running on personal computers. But software running on the server needs to install patches as soon as possible ," Wiles said.
Of the 4 security flaws on client software, up to 3 are considered serious because these errors can be exploited remotely and do not require any user interaction.
Last April, Oracle faced a lot of criticism because it often did not release patches for every product at the same time. Oracle is currently reviewing the process and work of issuing patches. " Our goal is to release the highest quality patches in a single official day, " Wiles said.
The release of this Critical Patch Update security update of Oracle must include a patch for a total of 250 security flaws for Oracle products running on different operating system platforms. However, there are still at least 10 errors still without the patch. " The patch for these errors will be released in the near future ," Wiles said.
So far Oracle has not recorded any attacks that have been carried out by exploiting security flaws fixed in Critical Patch Update.
