Online environment site mongabay.com reports, in 2009, Ecuadorian biologist Luis A Coloma collected the first individual of this new frog in the Reserva Las Gralarias private sanctuary.
New frogs live in dense forests and streams in Reserva Las Gralarias - a place seriously affected by chytrid fungi that eradicates amphibians in the 1980s.
Hyloscirtus princecharlesi is a rare, endangered frog that needs protection in nature. The habitat of this species is currently threatened by agricultural exploitation, citing information in Sky News (UK).
The rare frog Hyloscirtus princecharlesi is organized to preserve the Amphibian Ark amphibians named after Prince Charles of Wales to honor his work in an effort to finance the preservation of tropical rain forests in the developing countries.
Prince Charles is also president of the International Fund for Nature Protection in the United Kingdom (WWF-UK).
