Crown 2,300 years of net gold under the bed
The man suddenly discovered a rare precious gold crown dating back more than 2,000 years buried in old newspaper boxes under the bed.
According to Ancient Origins, the exquisite carved gold crown of the ancient Greek era, was born in 300 BC.The crown is in an old newspaper container at a house in Somerset, England. The anonymous owner was surprised by the discovery and was even more surprised to know that the artifact was worth at least $ 146,000.
Experts valued the auction house Duke's in Dorchester, Dorset to the retirement man's home to look at some of the inheritance from the grandfather. However, Guy Schwinge, the auctioneer of Duke's Auctioneers, was surprised to draw old newspapers and see valuable antiques.
"When the owner took the golden crown out of the old newspaper box, my heart stopped beating. When I came here, I didn't expect to see a golden antiquity. This crown is very hard to date. may belong to the crown catalog dating back to the Hellenistic period (31-323 BC) and the style indicates that it was built in northern Greece, "Schwinge said.
According to Schwinge, the crown has a width of 20 cm and weighs about 100 grams. It was crafted with fine gold and crafted by skilled workers. The bracelet is in good condition for 2,300 years."It's a rare antique. I've never seen a necklace like that before," Schwinge said.
The golden crown emulates the braids from the real leaves that the ancient Greeks had on their heads during religious rituals or as rewards in sports and art competitions. They take the form of branches of laurel, oak and olive trees, symbolizing wisdom, victory, peace and virtue.
Many crowns used as sacrifices offered to the gods at the place of worship or buried in the tomb of royal family members and nobles. They appear more popular after the Eastern conquests of Alexander the Great, when gold became more abundant in Greece.
