A meteorite has just over 5000 km away from Earth
According to the US Space Agency (NASA), a small meteorite just flew over our Earth at a distance of just over 5000 km.
NASA scientists said that the 2011 CQ1 meteorite is about 1 meter wide and flew over our Earth last Friday, with a distance of 5480 km near the Pacific region.
This is the second meteorite flying near Earth recorded. In 2004, astronomers also discovered the meteorite FU162 flying only a few hundred kilometers from Earth.

Dr Don Yeomans, of NASA's Jet Research Laboratory in Pasadena, California, said that because of its small size, the 2011 CQ1 meteorite was deflected by Earth's gravity at an angle of about 60 degree.
Although flying very close to Earth, scientists believe that such small meteorites hardly affect life on Earth. In the case of meteorites like 2011 CQ1 crashing into Earth, they will be completely burned by Earth's atmosphere in the air.
