Abnormal hot well water can be caused by an earthquake

The phenomenon of well water at Mr. Le Van Bao's house (Bao Thang district, Lao Cai) suddenly warmed up abnormally at a temperature of 60-70 degrees Celsius within a month, making people very interested. Many theories have been put forward, such as hot water by underground can have volcanic activity, even spiritual elements.

Talking to reporter Vietnam + on April 5, Dr. Le Huy Minh, Deputy Director of the Institute ( Institute of Geophysics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology ) said that hot water wells must be studied instruments. can. However, he also said the possibility of hot water wells related to volcanoes is unfounded.

According to this scientist, the hot water well may be related to the Red River fault zone.

Mr. Minh said, when the fault zone is active, it will cause the earth's crust to move, break and occur, and there will be mineral flow going up, moving along the fault and going to the ground. It is possible that the mineral stream enters the well and causes the water to heat up.

In fact, in the area of Lai Chau and Dien Bien provinces, the fault zone operates continuously. In Dien Bien basin area, there are many hot water circuits occurring (as in the case of Lao Cai).

According to information from Mr. Le Van Bao, owner of the upper well, this water source has been used for bathing the 95-year-old mother, her limbs curled up, walking hard. After being bathed, her limbs were soft and active again, her health improving. Dr. Minh said that this is a mineral water line, which can be a precious source of water and need to be researched and exploited reasonably to serve people.

As for the fault zones, which means that in this area there are earthquakes, Mr. Minh said that in some areas earthquakes still occur. Only that it is light intensity or vibration from an earthquake from another place, occurs but only the machine can record it.

Mr. Minh also made recommendations, people should not be too concerned about this phenomenon.

In another perspective, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Dan Nguyen, Chief of the Division of Geological Geology and Geology Federation, said that in order to determine the cause, it is necessary to go to the field survey, review the situation . However, this phenomenon is often referred to as 'heat pollution' (temperature suddenly increases) .

However, Mr. Dan also put forward many theories about the abnormal heating up of well water. Accordingly, it is possible that hot water is artificial. It means not only water wells, but even in some areas (in the toilet, corner of the house .) suddenly warm up unnaturally. The reason may be that the soil is close to the mine hole, or open circuit . heating up water and soil.

In addition, abnormal hot water wells can also be caused by natural causes. Therefore, it is necessary to consider what well water is dug through the rock. If digging through loose rock or peat, water can be heated up by flammable gas that generates high heat. Or, it could also be due to the earth's tectonic activity brought up from deep.

In the case of Bao Thang, Mr. Dan predicted that the cause was more natural. But factors related to volcanic activity are also excluded by this scientist.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Deputy Director of Lao Cai Department of Natural Resources and Environment said, the department has received information about foreign wells in Bao Thang and today sent officials to take water samples for research and consideration. Cause from where to give timely warning to people.
