Admire the world's rarest birds

The prize list of the 2010 rare bird photo contest in the world has just been published with more than 10 winning photos in 3 different genres.

According to the Telegraph newspaper, the world's rare bird photo contest was organized to protect the image of the 566 most endangered bird species for a new book highlighting their status.

Thousands of photos and contest winners will be printed by WILDGuides, gathered in the book World's Most Rare Birds to be published in 2012. Profits from selling this book will be transfer to the BirdLife International Program to help support the conservation of rare bird species worldwide.

The prize of the 2010 rare bird world photo contest was divided into 3 categories with more than 10 honors awarded. Below is a list of award-winning photos:

Genre of serious endangered birds:

Photographer Shane McInnes won the first prize with a picture of the Kakapo bird
one of the flying parrot species in New Zealand.

Photographer Sávio Freire Bruno won the second prize with a photo of the mother of the duck Merganser
in Brazil.

Winning the Third Prize is photographer David Boyle with a picture of a flying bird
in the sky at Christmas Island (Indian Ocean).

The fourth prize belongs to a photo of a owl in Maharashtra, India, by Jayesh K Joshi.

The fifth prize went to author Eric VanderWerf with a photo of Palila birds in Hawaii (USA).

Genre of endangered birds

Quan Min Li won the first prize with a picture of a beautiful stork stork
flying in the air in China.

Second Prize of this category belongs to photographer Huajin Sun with the photo
a crane with a red head dancing in the air.

Author Daniel Rosengren won the Third Prize with a lovely photo of a hummingbird
in Peru.

Winning the fourth prize is a photo of Indian teetering bird by Csaba Barkóczi.

Martin Hale from China won the fifth prize with a photo of a fish fin duck.

David Boyle won the first prize with a picture of two orange parrots in Tasmania.
