The flock of birds appears in Lao Cai as a swallow

Newly migrated birds to Ban Qua commune (Bat Xat, Lao Cai) are the birds, listed in rare and endangered species.

Animal expert, Professor Vo Quy said, hundreds of flying birds in Ban Qua commune are the storks , also known as snails, because of snails, belonging to the family Hac, scientific name is Anastomus oscitans. . "It is likely that birds migrate south in the summer to get food," said Professor Quy.

This species is included in the Vietnam Red Book at critical level, facing high risk of extinction. Currently, the scientific community and people do not meet the nest in Dam Doi bird sanctuary (Kien Giang) as before. The reason is that the bird sanctuaries are strongly impacted by economic activities such as splitting canals to feed shrimps, collecting eggs and catching young birds.

Storks often live in South Asia and Southeast Asia. In Vietnam they only appear in a few places in the Southwest and Tay Ninh. Storks are mainly white with black wings and green or purple tails. Adult bird feathers often change with the season.

According to animal experts, gentle mussels should be easily hunted by local people. This species has a habit of settling down, but due to the dwindling area and the narrow search for food, it has to migrate to another area.

The main food of the species is snails, aquatic animals such as frogs, crabs and large insects. In the past, storks were nesting in several bird sanctuaries such as Bac Lieu, Dam Doi and Cai Nuoc.

In recent days, people in Ban Qua commune have seen hundreds of birds flying down to feed in fields. They do not eat rice from the people so they do not affect agricultural production.
