Adobe reveals project 'Apollo'

It is expected that Adobe Systems will announce details of the Apollo project by the end of this month, which is designed with the aim of enabling multiple non-linear (offline) Internet applications on computers.

Apollo will provide developers with ways to build Adobe-based applications, including PDF, Flash, and Flex; or with JavaScript, Ajax and HTML, on the same environment. Apollo will be for Windows and Mac OS X.

Adobe hopes to be able to launch Apollo next year, and will provide some details about this project at the Adobe Max conference, which will be held from 23-26 October in Las Vegas, USA.

According to Shantanu Narayen, the first trial of Apollo will be available to some developers later this year.
