Adobe: There is no Flash Player 9 available for Linux yet
Linux users will have to wait more than a year to see the preview of the Adobe Flash Player 9 application for this open source operating system.
Adobe's Linux Flash development team leader, Mike Melanson, on September 4 said the company has no plans to release any beta of Flash Player 9 (Linux version) this year. This plan has been pushed back by the end of next year.
It is known that Adobe has recently improved the entire Flash engine, namely the release of Flash Player 9 for Windows and Macintosh. However, Linux users are more inferior because Adobe has ignored Flash Player version 8, and has not been Flash dynamic application (Linux version) since mid-2004.
Since Flash is not fully backwards compatible, Web content developed for newer Flash does not usually run on Flash 7 (the current Flash Linux version).
Adobe spokesman said on Wednesday that it hopes to complete Flash Player 9 (for Linux) early next year. And since the cycle between Flash Player 8 and 9 is too short - 10 months, Adobe decided to skip version 8 and switch to version 9 completely.
