UT San Diego Daily reported that the snake was about 4m long, died, was found drifting near Oceanside beach on the afternoon of October 18.

Local police have reported to scientific research facilities such as the San Diego Sea World The Scripps Research Institute and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA scientists came to sample this fish for research.

Local residents and scientists believe that the phenomenon of deep-sea fish, such as this type of oarfish appear and drift near the shore, is very unusual.

Recently, on October 13, the body of a nearly 5.5m-long fish of the same type was discovered by a group of oceanographic divers at the nearby island of Catalina.
