Agent dog knows sniffing computer data

US police are training and using professional dogs to track computer memory cards, containing 'dirty' data hidden by criminals.

The sale of child pornography is an increasingly serious problem facing many countries around the world. People who are pedophile (having child sexual pleasure - PV) often hide hard drives and computer memory cards containing depraved images in walls, ceilings or cabinets to avoid being detected.

Police often find it difficult to detect compact 'dirty' data storage devices. So they found an alternative: using sniffing dogs.

Connecticut state police in the US are currently using a professional dog belonging to a yellow labrador retriever, scouring hidden computer memory cards in exchange for food. The dog Thoreau, owned by detective Adam Houston, also has the ability to search for computer hard drives, USB devices and similar devices by identifying the smell of metal and components of the item.

The project initially gained some success and led to some kidnapping suspects. Last month, the " dog agent" helped authorities discover a USB full of child pornography hidden in a tin box inside of a metal drawer.

Houston detective said, before accepting the task, Mr. Thoreau was trained 22 weeks at the Connecticut State Police Training Center on how to detect digital devices in exchange for food.

Experts say, when teaching dogs to smuggle smuggling or prohibited goods, the trainers and police who control the professional dog always stick the smell of addictive, memory card or something similar to a toy their favorite.

Specifically, at the beginning, the trainer will play with the dog and the toy that has been washed so that there is no specific smell. After that, the item the teacher wants the trained dog to find is rolled into the toy, which is usually a bath or something like that.

Next, the dog began learning to identify smells of smugglers like the smell of a favorite toy. Teachers will hide towels and items to be found in different locations. And if the professional dog finds them, it will be rewarded with toys, black bars or both.
