Airbus filed a patent for a new super fast aircraft design

Last week, one of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers - Airbus filed a second patent for an aircraft that could move from London to New York in less than an hour. Specifically, this model will be equipped with a giant rocket engine, allowing it to operate at speeds four times the speed of sound. The plan to release a supersonic jet model was first announced by Airbus in July this year, but it seems the company has made a lot of improvements compared to their original design. Obviously, the two designs have huge differences.

According to Airbus, their product is "a space plane capable of taking off from the ground in the usual way, reaching an altitude of at least 100 kilometers, flying at supersonic speed or even crossing barriers. of sound ". Accordingly, the new aircraft will be fitted with a huge rocket engine located behind the body, with the support of two jet engines on either side. Jet turbines will take the plane to a certain height, before the rocket engine is burned, then push the plane to the final altitude. In the start-up phase, inside the rocket engine will happen a huge ultrasound boom, creating huge drag on the aircraft, and Airbus said it will resist this with a special flaps design.

When it released its first designs in July, Airbus said its supersonic aircraft model could be used for both civil and military purposes. In the civil field, the French-based aircraft maker will create private jets or planes carrying up to 20 passengers. When used by the military, new aircraft take on the role of transporting soldiers or becoming reconnaissance aircraft. In its submitted patent, Airbus also provided a short video describing how the aircraft actually works.

Like many other technology companies, Airbus submits hundreds of different patents each year to protect its intellectual property rights. However, that does not mean that all these ideas will become reality. Most patents never "escape" from the drawing, but in fact Airbus submitted two separate patents on the model. Thereby, it partly shows that the company is really serious to ship a supersonic jet in the next few years.
