Pedro Mascheroni, 75, and his wife, Marjorie, 67, worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory Center in New Mexico State. The Guardian newspaper said the couple was arrested on September 17.

According to the prosecution, in 2008, Pedro offered to sell to a representative from the Venezuelan government information to help build a plutonium plant to produce bombs. The Venezuelan agent is actually a spy of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) disguised.

The US Department of Justice accused Pedro of putting an encrypted 132-page document containing confidential information regarding nuclear weapons and requesting $ 793,000. Last June, this person received $ 20,000 from a spy.

If found guilty of this allegation, the Mascheroni will face life imprisonment.

The US Justice Department prosecution also confirmed the Venezuelan government, which is in a strained relationship with the United States, not related to the case.

The Los Alamos National Laboratory Center of the US Department of Energy is one of two US laboratories authorized to conduct nuclear weapons design activities.
