Ancient tomb mystery 'shadow warriors' appears the most unexpected place

The workers on the mission to renovate the cemetery did not dare to touch the two anomalous rock structures even without knowing it was the tomb of the terrifying Avar warriors.

The Avar warriors were the army that spread terror in Eastern Europe at the beginning of the Middle Ages Night, and then mysteriously disappeared. For many years, Eastern European archaeologists have been trying to find evidence about them, but the collected information is extremely meager. Two newly excavated ancient tombs have revealed the reason why the army is almost "evaporated" from human history.

2 ancient tombs were found inadvertently. When renovating and expanding an old cemetery in Vinkovci, Eastern Croatia, the workers stopped in front of two graves they thought were abnormal. Not daring to touch, they informed the city museum.

According to a team from the Vinkovci City Museum, inside the two simple graves are the almost complete remains of adult men, but what remains is enough to prove a healthy body of the warrior. used to roam the horse. In a tomb, a bronze belt buckle was found dating back to 600-800 AD.

According to archaeologist Anita Rapan-Papeša, a member of the research team, although there are legends about Avarians in the area, their graves have never been found.

The reason may be due to the unique construction that these two tombs have shown: they imitate the tomb of the Romans , making it easy to confuse without carefully examining the remains and burial objects inside. .

2 warriors were also buried along with their horses. On closer inspection, it was discovered that one of the two warriors was once violated by grave robbers, but for some reason they did not touch the horses, which were also equipped with expensive accessories when buried.

The Avar and their empire - the Pannonian Avar - were a terrifying nomadic army with a knack for archery, once plagued the famous Byzantine empire. They brought their Slavs blood into Eastern Europe, with horror. But it was the constant war that caused them to wane in the 7th century AD, when confronted with Bulgarians.
