The secret tomb of Genghis Khan is about to reveal

The burial place of Genghis Khan for the past hundred years is still a mystery, but recently, a group of amateur archaeologists believe that they have come close to finding this tomb.

After his death in 1227 at the age of 72, Genghis Khan was buried in a secret location. The legend says that when he took his body to burial, escort soldiers killed anyone they met on the way and after the burial was completed, the escorts committed suicide. Therefore, in 800 years, Genghis Khan's tomb is still a mystery.

Recently, however, amateur archaeologists believe they are coming close to finding the tomb of Genghis Khan. They searched for more than 84,000 satellite images of suspected areas with tombs with the help of more than 10,000 volunteers.

The survey team searched on an area of ​​6000 square kilometers. In an article published in the journal Public Library of Science One , they claimed to have identified 55 potential archaeological sites that may have remains of Genghis Khan.

Later, the archaeological group went to northern Mongolia to survey the ground and use unmanned aircraft to take photos from above.

Dr Albert Yu-Min Lin, the leader of the archeology team and from the University of California, said the work brought them closer to the final answer to the place of Genghis Khan.

Most experts believe that the Mongol great was buried somewhere in a valley near Mount Burkhan Khaldun, near Khentii Aimag - where Genghis Khan was born. The Mongol emperors who succeeded in Genghis Khan were also thought to have been buried next to him.

Although the man who built an empire stretching from Kaspian Sea to Yellow Sea, Genghis Khan's tomb has been kept secret for hundreds of years. The record of merchant Marco Polo, who had met the grandson of Genghis Khan as Kublai Khan in the 13th century, gave some indication of how the funeral of the Mongols was buried.

Marco Polo said the bodies were taken to a large mountain called Altai and anyone who met the funeral on the way had to die.

It is also said that when buried in Kublai Khan, people killed over 20,000 people who met the burial group on their way to keep it a secret. Popular legends also say that the area around the burial site of Genghis Khan has been trampled by horses for months to erase the remains of the tomb.

To search the tomb of this legendary great reincarnation, more than 10,000 volunteers have been mobilized. They went for a total of 30,000 hours (equivalent to 3 to 4 years) through 2.3 million areas. Since then, the research team delineated 100 feasible positions and 55 of them have archaeological potential. During the search process, there were also many traces of ancient cities.

The researchers visited the identified locations and proceeded to dig at these locations. However, they are planning to use ground-scanning radar devices to further narrow the search areas.
