The mysterious screen about the burial place of Genghis Khan
For nearly 800 years, the resting place of the Mongol emperor Genghis Khan remained in the veil of secret. Where is the real tomb of Genghis Khan and the curse at the tomb of Genghis Khan is still the mystery that scientists have to find answers.
The burial place of Genghis Khan has long been a controversial topic. According to the history books, the founder of the Mongolian empire asked to be buried in an anonymous tomb. Soldiers escort his body to kill everyone they meet on the way to the burial place. Tomb builders were also eliminated, then the army escorted suicide.
Whether the historical record is accurate or not, archaeologists cannot locate the tomb of Genghis Khan. For years, they hypothesized about his burial place. But due to the limitations of conducting archaeological excavations on the sacred land in Mongolia, it is difficult for researchers to find solid evidence to indicate the location of the tomb.
According to the International Business Times, Thanh Cat Tu Han died in the late summer of 1227 in Luc Ban Son, China. His body was taken to Mongolia for burial.
To explain the mystery surrounding the burial place of Genghis Khan, journalist Robin Ackroyd went to Mongolia. He spent two months moving 700km on horseback around the land where Genghis Khan once lived, visiting many places that could be a burial ground to recreate the panorama on the prairie 800 years ago.
In the book "Genghis Khan: The Sacred Tomb and the Secret Treasure" , Ackroyd recounts his journey in Mongolia, combined with historical records of Genghis Khan's life and successor. he. After analyzing ancient texts and studying the present life in Mongolia, Ackroyd claimed to have found the tomb of Genghis Khan.

In order to better understand Genghis Khan and the creation of the Mongol empire, Ackroyd used a series of historical documents to sequence the events related to the emperor's life and death. The two most important documents that Ackroyd relies on are the Secret History of Mongolia (anonymous author), a record of the Mongolian dynasty history shortly after Genghis Khan's death.
Another document is Rashid al-Din's record in the first decade after 1300. Rashid al-Din came from Persia to rewrite Mongolian history."He tried very hard to find out what happened, where Genghis Khan was buried, to explain some of the mysteries surrounding the burial process," Ackroyd said.
The cause of Thanh Cat Tu Han's death associated with many different anecdotes. Some people think he has a high fever. Mongolia's Secret History states that he fell off his horse last winter, resulting in wound infection. Another anecdote told him that he was injured and died while trying to force an enemy's wife.
Ackroyd stressed that the true cause of Genghis Khan's death was kept secret to secure his position as head of the Mongolian empire. His death in the hands of the enemy is not recorded in history. Genghis Khan certainly does not want to reveal his weakness in a military campaign. However, the time of his death was in August . At this time in Mongolia, the temperature began to decline sharply and the hot days quickly turned to frost.
According to Ackroyd, returning to your homeland to rest is extremely important for Genghis Khan. The 17th-century Mongolian annals said he was taken to his hometown after his death, the area in a curve on the Kherlen River, where his tent was located.
Rashid al-Din recorded that the Genghis Khan casket was taken to this location to perform the mourning rite. Later, the princes and leaders met to discuss the future of the kingdom before returning home.
Genghis Khan is buried with various burial items, horses and servants. One document said that 40 female palace wears noble costumes, wearing jeweled gold jewels were killed and buried with him to escort his soul to the afterlife.
The three locations are most likely to be the site of the most Genghis Khan City including: Öglögchiin Kherem or Almsgivers' Wall in Khentii Province, Mongolia. Many ancient tombs have been found here in the past, leading to speculation that one of them belongs to Genghis Khan, but no tomb has royal traces.
Another location is Avarga , near Delgerkhaan . Although this area is a camp base, it does not have a personal importance to Genghis Khan. Avarga is far from where he was born, and the place where the emperor was crowned 200 km.
The last place is the Burkhan Khaldun sacred mountain , which is capable of containing the highest tomb of Genghis Khan, according to Ackroyd. The 240-square-kilometer area around Burkhan Khaldun is also called Ikh Khorig or "Prohibited" . This is sacred land and the abuser will be punished by death. Ancient documents indicate that the mountain used to be the sanctuary of Genghis Khan in his youth, when he fought the Merkid tribe. He used to run up the mountain to evade the enemy, survive and vow to pray before the mountain ever since.

Ackroyd judged that the possibility of the tomb of Genghis Khan was very high on the mountain because some texts indicate the Mongol leaders have a great respect for burial on high. As the founder of the Mongolian empire, Genghis Khan may want to be buried in the highest place in his territory.
Compared to other mountains in Mongolia, Burkhan Khaldun's location is also consistent with historical records of burial places. It is located at the intersection of the three rivers and is only 6 days away from the birthplace of Genghis Khan.
In addition, at the top of Burkhan Khaldun mountain, there is a large mound of rock that does not appear naturally. Ackroyd said the stones appear to be taken to the current location by humans. This requires abundant resources that only the lineage of Genghis Khan can meet.
The Mongolian government also concluded that Burkhan Khaldun was the most viable place to locate the tomb of Genghis Khan. In 2015, it was included in the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). However, the ability to excavate the land to find the tomb of Genghis Khan is very low.
" All evidence indicates that Genghis Khan is buried on the top of Burkhan Khaldun mountain. But the excavation of Burkhan Khaldun will certainly not happen in the near future. Many Mongolians view excavation of the tomb of Genghis Khan as The ancient blasphemy of the dead and the burial site still exists today, helping to maintain the secret of the grave for nearly 800 years. They are living in sacred places and committing a grave is something they have never thought of , " Ackroyd said.
