Animals need to meet before they disappear
Did you know, many animals are now standing on the edge of the abyss when the number is only a few hundred individuals.
Due to human impact on the environment, many endangered species are now endangered. Many of them are strange creatures, if lost will be a huge loss to the ecosystem on Earth.
1. Seals mane
Hooded seal or hood seal is a seal that lives in the North Atlantic Ocean. This animal is very much hunted by humans and is now on the verge of extinction. It is estimated that there are no more than 100 individuals in the world.
This seal has a special nasal cavity placed above the head, like a hat. This chamber can inflate or suck up when they swim.
In addition, this nasal cavity is also a tool for them to defend, attracting their partners as well as symbols to show their strength and position in the herd.
2. Kangaroo tree
Tree kangaroos are a special species of kangaroo that lives in trees in the rainforests of New Guinea (northeast Australia) and Queensland (Australia). They are a fairly slow and clumsy species, they often live on trees, mainly leaves.
Scientists believe that the toxin in the leaves is the reason why they become slow. Deforestation and mass hunting are making the number of individuals of this species decrease over time.
3. Beard vulture
Beard vultures often live on high mountain ranges like Everest, Himalayas and other large mountains in Europe and Asia. Unlike other species, bearded vultures that do not eat scavengers often carry large chunks of other animals upwards and then drop to the ground many times to break it and eat the food in it.
Bearded vultures were nearly extinct in the last century due to the fact that the offspring were too much attacked by natural enemies and infected with breeding poisons. It is estimated that there are only about 10,000 individuals in the world.
4. Saiga antelope
Like the Mexican salamander, the Saiga antelope is considered an antelope in an extremely critical condition.
They have lived throughout the vast steppe areas of Eurasia, from the Karpat and Caucasus mountains to Dzungaria and Mongolia. With its strange but extremely audible and flexible nose, animals are likened to alien creatures. With rampant hunting, the Saiga antelope has only about a few thousand left.
5. Olm
Olm is a snake belonging to the blind amphibian family that lives in groundwater caves in central Europe and southern Europe. This is one of the few species of amphibians that can sleep and grow completely in the water.
Living a completely sun-free life, our eyes are reduced, in return for the other senses to flourish. Today, the pollution of water resources makes the number of this species significantly reduced.
6. The snub-nosed monkeys
British naturalist David Attenborough once likened this upturned snub-nosed monkey to the ' goblin '. They are often found in forests in Asia but not in ordinary forests, but as forests above 3,900 meters above sea level.
This langur is very intelligent so humans rarely find them. The indiscriminate deforestation has greatly affected the survival of this species.
7. Indian crocodile
Indian crocodile (or Gharial crocodile) is one of the longest, most famous live crocodiles in India. An adult crocodile has a length of over 6m and weighs about 180 kg.
They are animals that dominate all of India's major river systems. Due to excessive hunting, the number of individuals of this species is in an extremely dangerous situation. Currently there are only 235 children in the world.
8. Monkey monkey
Monkey is a strange monkey species, found only on Borneo island (located in Southeast Asia, under the sovereignty of 3 countries Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia). They are famous for very large belly and nose. Because of widespread deforestation, the number of proboscis monkeys has decreased by 50% in just 40 years.
9. Coconut crab
Coconut crab is the largest arthropod in the world, an adult can weigh up to 9kg. Like their name, this crab can climb a tree to pick up coconuts, then use its larger, smashing trees to break down the coconut shell. This animal is considered to be almost extinct, the surviving animals are under special protection in some protected areas.
10. Parrot Kakapo
Derived from New Zeland , parrot Kakapo or parrot is the most 'fat' parrot in the world. Because the living environment is too safe, less threatening gradually they lose their ability to fly and become 'obese'. This parrot is standing on the brink of extinction, until 2012, there were only 128 in the world.
11. Dugong
Dugong or sea cow . is one of four living sea cows found from the Pacific Ocean to the east coast of Africa . This giant animal has long been hunted for meat and oil so it is in critical condition.
12. Loris
Loris is a mammal that was only seen four times in total in 1937 and from 1939 until now, they completely disappeared. Scientists think they are extinct.
This animal often lives in Sri Lanka , has large eyes to help them see clearly at night. Many believe that the flesh of this species can cure leprosy and other parts can be used as a charm against curse. This makes them hunted to the point of extinction.
13. Gooty Spider
Gooty spiders are found only in a forest in India . With their extremely beautiful eye-catching colors, collectors pay up to 500 USD (about 1.1 million VND) for a spider. This makes their risk of extinction very high.
13. Markhor
Markhor is a wild chamois species that often lives in Afghanistan and some neighboring countries. They have long fur and beautiful twisted horns, just like in fairy tales.
With a majestic but equally beautiful appearance, they were chosen to be symbols of Pakistan. It is not difficult to understand when they are hunted a lot. However, by 2015 the number of these species has increased significantly, from one species classified as endangered to the threatened group.
