Animals push back dinosaurs to eat meat with a tail

The giant dinosaur eating Galeamopus pabsti grass can use its tail to chase dangerous meat-eating dinosaurs.

In a study published in the journal PeerJ, paleontologist Emanuel Tschopp of the University of Turin, Italy describes the newly discovered herbivorous dinosaur named Galeamopus pabsti, which lived 150 million years ago in the Jurassic period, whose size The size is so massive that no one can eat them, Seeker reported on May 3.

Adult Galeamopus pabsti dinosaurs can reach a length of over 20m, weighing more than 15 tons. They possess big legs like stems and long tails, which can batter with tremendous strength to create a sound of tearing away predators. Healthy animals are almost on the top of the food chain, only weak old ones become meals of carnivorous dinosaurs.

"The teeth mark on dinosaur bones Galeamopus pabsti shows that large carnivorous dinosaurs like Allosaurus and Ceratosaurus eat only dead, immature or sick , " Tschopp said.

The researchers identified Galeamopus pabsti of the Diplodocidae family, not smart because the brain is very small compared to body size. The degree of influence of brain size to intelligence has not been clarified.

The new study is based on fossil skeletal analysis of the species unearthed by Swiss paleontologist Ben Pabst in 1995. Galeamopus pabsti used to live in what is today Wyoming and Colorado, USA.

The skeleton of Galeamopus pabsti is on display at the Aathal Dinosaur Museum, Switzerland.
