Announcing the first map of the sinking of the Titanic

The most comprehensive map of the sinking of the Titanic has just been completed when researchers assembled 130,000 images of underwater robots shooting at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

Looking like the surface of the moon, the map shows debris and parts of the ship scattered across the 15-square-mile area of the ocean floor.

Detailed images can provide clues about events after the luxury ship was considered ' unsinkable ' but hit the iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912, making more than 1,500 out of 2,200 passengers and crew on board died.

Titanic drifted in two directions, nearly 600 kilometers apart.

This is not the first time the sinking of the Titanic has been mapped. The first attempts were made immediately after the ship's sinking site was determined in 1985. Explorers used photos taken by remote-mounted vehicles. However, this map is incomplete because only a few areas of shipwrecks are reconstructed. About 40% of shipwreck locations have not been fully researched and reproduced.

The first comprehensive survey map has been implemented since 2010 to preserve the heritage of all time. This is a project implemented by many agencies, such as RMS Titanic Company, Wood Hole Marine Research Institute, American Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Agency (NOAA) and American History Channel.

The sunken ship was found on September 1, 1985, 13 miles from the last recorded site of the sinking. Titanic sank as soon as he made his first voyage from Southampton to the city. New York then became a legend.
